Description
A global leader in advanced glass manufacturing is seeking a skilled Technologist to join its technical team, supporting the development and optimisation of glass forming and annealing technologies. The company operates across multiple sectors, including architectural, automotive, and creative technologies, and is committed to innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement across its global operations. The Role: The successful candidate will contribute to the development of forming and annealing processes, as well as broader activities related to decarbonisation, process improvement, and product innovation . The role combines hands-on, site-based activities with theoretical and analytical work , supporting both day-to-day technical challenges and major capital projects such as float plant start-ups. It offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with manufacturing, engineering, procurement, and sustainability teams across international operations. Key Responsibilities: Develop and improve flat glass forming and annealing technologies. Support manufacturing operations with troubleshooting and process optimisation. Contribute to major technical and engineering projects, including plant start-ups and repairs. Drive innovation through R&D initiatives focused on decarbonisation and sustainability. Manage multiple priorities, providing timely and effective technical support when required. Collaborate cross-functionally with global teams to deliver business objectives. Candidate Profile: Degree-qualified in Science or Engineering , with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience . Practical and theoretical understanding of glass forming and annealing preferred. Strong project management , organisational , and IT skills. Confident communicator and problem-solver, capable of working under pressure. Agile and self-motivated, with the ability to adapt to changing business needs. Willingness to travel both in the UK and overseas, sometimes at short notice.
