- Instructional Content Developer - Science and Maths (12 Month Maternity Cover)
Description
About the roleWe are on a mission to build the most effective learning experiences in the world, and we need your expertise to make it happen. Our Content and Learning team is hard at work improving our existing A-Level offering, and creating our first wave of GCSE Science courses.
This is a 12-month maternity leave cover position, with the potential to transition into a permanent role as our team and course library continue to expand.
This role is critical to hitting that goal. You’ll combine subject knowledge in maths and the sciences with creative visual skills to produce exceptional educational content.
You’ll work across two main areas:
- Multimedia lessons: collaborate with Subject Leads and other Content Developers to create engaging and accurate visuals for our instructional content.
- No prior illustration or animation experience is required; we’ll give you all of the tools and training you need to bring our lessons to life.
You’ll join a team that thrives on collaboration and problem-solving. With a small content development team, you’ll have real responsibility and the opportunity to drive our content forward across the sciences.
Where appropriate, we develop and use generative AI tools to assist Content Developers in their workflow.
If you’re a quick learner, passionate about education, and excited by the idea of combining technical knowledge with creativity, this role is for you.
About usAt Up Learn, we’ve built one of the world’s most effective learning experiences by combining cognitive science, instructional theory, and artificial intelligence. We’re the market-leading platform for A Levels, with seven courses on offer and 1 in 3 A Level students using Up Learn. Over the next year, we’re launching GCSE Science and accelerating growth, expanding our impact to millions more students.
Our results speak for themselves: 97% of students who complete our courses achieve an A*/A, even those who started with lower grades. And a large-scale evaluation of Up Learn in schools found usage is associated with 9 months additional progress, with grade improvements across whole year groups.
And for every paying student, we provide a full scholarship to a student in need - ensuring high-quality education is accessible to all.

You’re confident learning new tools and applying them quickly. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where your work has a direct impact on students’ success. - Fix past issues on live courses where required.
- Collaborate with a small team to meet weekly, monthly and quarterly deadlines.
